Lane Closure / Partial Lane Closure Requirements

  1. You agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless the city of Marietta from any liability for personal injuries or property damage sustained by any person in connection with any activities for which this permission is issued.
  2. You agree to comply with the rules and regulations provided in the U.S. Department of Transportation Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways (M.U.T.C.D.) latest edition.
  3. You are to provide a traffic control plan for the section of road to be partially closed that meets the city of Marietta requirements. Note on the plans any circumstances that may require special attention.
  4. Partial road closures are allowed only between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Between closures, the road shall be replaced per city of Marietta standards. Per city ordinance, "Construction and demolition activity or the excavation of streets and highways within 1,000 feet of any residential district or section shall not be performed between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. with the exception of all of Sunday." (see Chapter 10-6, Noise; Ordinance 6854, signed September 14, 2005 for specific requirements)
  5. All flaggers must be certified.
  6. All Type 1 and Type 2 barricades shall have a minimum of one warning light (flasher) per barricade. All Type 3 barricades shall have a minimum of two warning lights (flashers) per barricade.
  7. Attach plan of detour, details, sign locations, etc.
  8. All signs are to be installed per the M.U.T.C.D.
  9. It is your responsibility to install and maintain all signs, barricades, flashers, etc. in strict accordance with the requirements of the city of Marietta. You further understand that the city's Department of Public Works may suspend construction for any failure on your part to meet the above requirements.
  10. A copy of this approval and traffic control plan during the closure must be on the site.
  11. Requirements for road cuts and pavement replacement with the city of Marietta:
    • For city roads on latest city map, install a concrete ditch cap immediately following installation of pipe / crossing ditch work (see detail "typical street cut repair"). Road must be available for travel at end of work day.
    • High early strength concrete may be used. Steel plate per GA DOT specifications, pinned to anchor, must be installed temporarily. Asphalt paving must be installed within 96 hours for local roads. Asphalt paving must be installed within 48 hours for arterial or collector roads. GA DOT or Cobb County approval for state and / or county roads.
